Background

George Beattie & Sons Ltd were contracted as subcontractors to the principal contractor to dismantle the Dropped Object Canopy of the bridge

The construction was primarily structural steelwork with polystyrene protective panels

Specification

  • Dismantle and remove structural steelwork to Dropped Object Canopy of bridge
  • Working at height above "live" traffic necessitating traffic contra flows and in some instances road closures
  • Extremely tight time constraints imposed

Achievements & Successes

All works to be completed in the midst of a very inclement weather, working at height taking into account the natural sway and bounce of the bridge.
George Beattie & Sons Ltd were required to dismantle the structural steel above a steady stream of traffic
